Data Management Center of Excellence

The objectives of the Data Management Center of Excellence (DMCOE) are to collect and assess Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR) and data management and sharing (DMS) best practice resources, transfer this knowledge to stakeholders inside and outside NIH, and coordinate these activities with other related NIH efforts. The project is comprised of four main tasks:

  1. Data Landscape Evolution: Assess the current landscape of NIH-supported data repositories to inform guidance on future data landscape;
  2. Key Resource Collection and Distribution: Gather and assess FAIR and DMS best practice resources and build knowledge guides for distribution to stakeholders inside and outside NIH;
  3. Training and Learning Support: Organize and host events with expert community partners to facilitate FAIR and DMS best practice adoption in researcher and other data steward communities.
  4. DMS Best Practices Coordination and Communication support: Support communication regarding the project across NIH, including distribution of outputs from the above tasks. This task includes supporting a Data Stewardship Working Group
