#MentorMonday: Christine Cutillo

Christine Cutillo
Special Assistant to the Director
National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS)

The objective of this project is to landscape and understand current data science efforts across NCATS in order to craft a strategic vision for the center. In addition, the findings from both the landscaping and planning portions will be communicated to a wide array of relevant stakeholders such as NCATS leadership and the general public. The project will focus on studying topic areas, as well as technologies, helping to ensure that NCATS is using the most cutting-edge technology available throughout our data science portfolio. Lastly, the strategy developed would offer a way to assess current data science initiatives as well as serve as a long-term evaluation tool for future programs and provide a broad data science direction.

Enabling the center to fast-track specific efforts.

NCATS has had fantastic experiences with Civic Digital Fellows in the past – enabling the center to fast-track specific efforts while also aiding in training/education for the next generation of innovative leaders and giving them exposure to the pressing problems in federal agencies.

New ways of thinking.

We’re excited to have a different perspective and new ways of thinking about the issues we are tackling in the translational/data science space. We are excited to have Maia Materman on board to help with our data science efforts!
