Cutting-Edge Research Impact Analysis: A Roundtable on Bibliometrics

Event Description

This two-hour virtual roundtable discussion will cover cutting-edge techniques and tools related to research impact analytics and bibliometrics. The program will begin with brief presentations by our panelists, followed by an open discussion.  Bibliometrics, sometimes called research impact, is the quantitative method of citation and content analysis for scholarly journals, books, and researchers. Many new and innovative techniques for bibliometric analysis have emerged in recent years, such as use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools for content analysis and visualization, use of Altmetric mentions data (citations from non-peer reviewed sources), and more.

By the end of this training, attendees will be able to:

  • Discuss how bibliometric techniques can be used for analysis of research impact in the biomedical field
  • Identify emerging trends and techniques for bibliometric analysis
  • List resources and tools for learning about, using, and conducting bibliometric analysis
  • Give examples of how bibliometric analysis has been used at NIH

Attendees are not expected to have any prior knowledge of bibliometric techniques or the tools used to conduct this research.
