The project I’m working on will automate a lot of the planning that goes into NIH codeathons. Sometimes, the people who want to host these don’t have a strong hold on technology. My project will let those people create Google Drives, Slack Channels, and Github Repositories with the click of a button. It’ll also allow them to easily manage people who have applied to the codeathon, their information, as well as the timeline for planning and putting it on!

Exploring the space of civic tech.

I hope to learn what it’s like to work for the government in a tech role! I’m excited to explore the space of civic tech and see how my technical skills can benefit those in the government. Also, the Coding it Forward fellowship has great programming planned over the next weeks, including mentorship and informative events. I want to take advantage of these, so I can explore other opportunities in civic tech and see how my interest in entrepreneurship can intersect.

Making an impact.

I’m excited to learn a lot and make an impact with this project! I’m getting hands on experience with some new languages and APIs by building this web app which will be great for my overall coding skills going forward. On top of that, this project is going to be either used or added onto after I’m done with the fellowship, so I’m excited to see how it’ll be used at the NIH long term!
